What if there is inclement weather?
This is a rain or shine outdoor event. We encourage you to consult the weather forecast and dress accordingly.
Will there be a place to sit if I need to take a break?
Yes. There will be limited seating available for those whose health would benefit from a place to sit.
I already registered but now have additional people who would like to attend. Is that OK?
Yes. This is a community event and we welcome all participants. We ask that additional guests register online and we do encourage carpooling when possible as parking is limited on our campus.
Can I bring my children to this event?
Yes! Children and teenagers are invited and encouraged to participate. They can also order luminaries in memory of those who have died. A special placard will be made for children who order luminaries.
Do I have to order a luminary to attend?
No. You do not have to order a luminary. Luminaries can be ordered as a way of recognizing a person who has died, but you are not required to order a luminary to participate.
How can I order a luminary?
Orders can be made online (luminary order), or a paper order form can be downloaded and printed. Paper order forms can be mailed to:
c/o Laura Bradbury
250 Hospice Circle
Raleigh, NC 27607
There is a suggested donation of $25 for each luminary order. The deadline for submitting orders is November 28, 2016.
What will my placard look like?
The placards are printed on cardstock and then laminated to ensure durability. Each placard will include the name of the person you are remembering and your commemorative message. There will be three different types of placards: placards from adults, placards from children or teens, and placards in memory of veterans of the armed forces.
Where will my placard be located?
Placards in memory of veterans will be placed together in the Veterans Garden on Transitions LifeCare campus. The other placards will be placed in alphabetical order on the pathways surrounding Transitions LifeCare Campus.
I made a donation to Transitions LifeCare online or at another event. Does this mean my loved one will have a luminary at this event?
In order to have a luminary at this event lit in memory of someone, you must fill out and submit either the online or paper order form.
I want to order a luminary, but I can’t attend on December 6. How will I get my commemorative placard?
Commemorative placards will be available for pick up at Transitions GriefCare until February 1, 2017. You or someone else can pick them up at the Grief Center before that date.
