Transitions LifeCare’s Mary Lucas Honored With Triangle Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Award

This prestigious award celebrates the most dynamic and impactful young professionals in the Triangle region who have made significant contributions to their industries and communities.
Mary Lucas has demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and passion in her role at Transitions LifeCare and throughout her community. Her innovative approach and commitment to excellence have significantly enhanced our ability to provide compassionate care and support to those facing serious illness, death, and grief. Mary’s unwavering dedication to our mission has not only benefited our organization but also the countless families we serve.
Outside of her role with Transitions LifeCare, Mary Lucas exemplifies a deep commitment to community service through her extensive volunteer work and leadership roles. She has served on the City of Raleigh Human Relations Commission and Community Engagement Board, where she worked to foster inclusivity and enhance citizen participation. She also served on the Capital City Clauses for three years, including one as Board President. Lucas is the host of the weekly Aging Matters radio show and podcast, where she helps raise awareness of issues facing seniors and advocates for our aging population. She is also a member of the Alliance of Therapy Dogs, regularly volunteering at local hospitals with her therapy dog Waylon to offer comfort to patients. Her advocacy and fostering for senior and hospice dogs further showcases her dedication to providing care and support to those in need, highlighting the core values of compassion and service that she brings to both her professional and volunteer endeavors.
The 40 Under 40 award, presented by the Triangle Business Journal, honors individuals under the age of 40 who are making significant contributions to their respective fields and the community. Winners are selected based on their professional accomplishments, leadership qualities, and community involvement. Mary Lucas will be celebrated along with other honorees at a special awards ceremony hosted by the Triangle Business Journal on June 12 at Fletcher Opera Theatre in Raleigh.
