Transitions LifeCare Staff Updates
Transitions LifeCare announces two internal promotions: Christine Khandelwal, DO to vice president of education and strategic outreach and Mary Lucas, MSHCM to vice president of marketing.
Dr. Christine Khandelwal
Dr. Khandelwal joined Transitions LifeCare in 2013 as a palliative and hospice physician and also concurrently served as director of palliative care inpatient service at WakeMed Health & Hospitals as well as adjunct assistant clinical professor at UNC School of Medicine. In her new role, she provides vision and leadership to develop and grow the newly formed Transitions LifeCare Learning Institute. She manages collaborative partnerships with medical training programs and works to establish new educational collaborations and opportunities. Dr. Khandelwal earned her doctorate from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, serves on the North Carolina Medical Board, and was named a 2019 TBJ “Health Care Hero.”
Mary Lucas
Lucas joined Transitions LifeCare in 2019 as Director of Business Development where she managed the organization’s sales team. In her new role, Mary is responsible for developing, monitoring, and communicating business strategy and strategic priorities. She is also responsible for pursuing new partnerships, contracts, and business opportunities within health systems, payers, community organizations, value-based purchasing, and alternative payment models. Mary earned her master’s degree in health care management from Johns Hopkins University, serves on NHPCO’s Next Generation Leadership Advisory Council and the AHHC Hospice Leaders Council.
