Did you know - there are more than 1.3 million people over the age of 65 who live in North Carolina, and the number is expected to reach nearly 2.4 million by 2032 (American Community Survey, 2008-2012). In five years the state will have more residents over 60 than under 18 years of age. By 2030, one in four North Carolinians will be 60 or older.

In North Carolina, more than 170,000 older adults had Alzheimer’s Disease or other forms of dementia in 2009; by 2030 the number is projected to increase to close to 300,000. (American Community Survey, 2005-2009).

In North Carolina, more than 840,000 caregivers provide 900 million caregiving hours per year, with a market value of $8.9 billion (National Family Caregivers Association and Family Caregiver Alliance, 2006).
